Here is a PowerPoint on the use of commas for clauses. It got me an outstanding but does need tweaking slightly e.g. take the part out about phrases!

The ppt is quite dense and dull, but it is a useful resource. Beware, though, that the definition of clauses and phrases are inaccurate. A clause does not necessarily make sense on its own, and a phrase can have a verb in it.
