Begin by finding out what children already know about electricity, incl. which everyday appliances use either mains electricity or batteries (or both). Sort appliances using a Venn diagram. Discuss what electricity does – heat/cooling, light, movement & sound. Suitable for Year 2 pupils.

A good sheet which gives the children a chance to use previous mathematical knowledge in a different context.
