Wants and Needs Cards

Overall rating 4 out of 54.7 (18 ratings)

Last updated 22 May 2013, created 15 April 2010, viewed 48,172

The 20 illustrated cards show aspects of life that pupils have to decide are either a ‘want’ or a ‘need’, leading to recognition that ‘needs’ are also ‘rights’. The cards are an ideal way of introducing children’s rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. They are suitable for 8-16 More…-year-olds. There are also two A4 sheets for teachers with accompanying activities and a summary of the Convention.

Fantastic!. These cards are a brilliant resource to use in school with children to get them discussing the differences between needs and wants and how this relates to our rights in society.
Thank you I will use these over and over again!

Excellent resource. A life saver! Was told the previous evening that I was to take a class for philosophical discussion. Never having done anything like this I turned to Tes and there you were. Many thanks.
