Y3 Myths and Legends Scheme of Work

Overall rating 4 out of 54.9 (14 ratings)

Last updated 15 May 2013, created 22 November 2011, viewed 11,249

Based on Theseus and the Minotaur, from 'Greek Myths' by Marcia Williams, this scheme of work follows a Talk for Writing approach to planning the unit. I really enjoyed teaching this unit and the children were very enthusiastic, producing stories to be proud of. ['Minotaur Day' was particularly su More…ccessful!] Please leave feedback and let me know how you get on if you use any of the ideas.

'Children listen to Ancient storyteller, complete with circlet of leaves'? I played the part of an ancient storyteller, using a few bullet pts on a sheet of paper to remind me of the story. I wrapped a sheet around me and wore a crown of sugar-paper leaves. Of course the cnildren knew it was me but, after a minute of fun, they settled and joined in the pretence. It worked well. Especially in helping them understand that a story is never told twice in the same way in the oral tradition. It seems cheeky to give myself a rating of 5...!
