I developed this activity after my top set year 9 class had completed a sheet on 'Body maths&' which involved looking at stride length and speed. You will need a dry day and a big space where you can see footprints. Measurements need to be really accurate. Sheet 2 gives a worksheet to do some distance time calculations from my results if you don&';t do the practical bit yourself. Even if you don't get accurate results the practical activity is good for recognising speed and what m/s actually means in reality - amazing to compare to the stride length of Usain Bolt....
