The first part of a 3-part project designed for an able yr8 group. This is designed for distance learning during covid19 but could be adjusted for regular classroom use once things return to normal.

Has a lesson ppt focused around DNA and reading ‘dino DNA’. Introduces the ideas of codons (base triplets in DNA). Some of the tasks in here are magpied from other areas and collated together so thanks to those that originally made them. The class enjoyed it so thought to share.

Sources of adjusted resources. Thanks again for the excellent original resources :

Thank you - this has saved me hours of work and I will be using this with my year 8 and year 9 groups. The codons are a brilliant resource.

OMG I've been looking for a fun way to get coding and DNA to my Year 9s - this is awesome! The codons must have taken you ages, I really appreciate your spreadsheet work!
