Spend the lesson actively trying out the strategies, then at the end they present their strategies to the class, give their opinion how effective they thought their chosen strategies were, and the rest of the class gives them a clap. You could get them to write them down as well and when you tell them to revise for a spelling test they select which strategy they are going to trial this time, and they give their feedback after the test how effective theu thought it was. You could also do this kind of thing after a dictionary lesson, with groups finding 10 difficult words for the next group to try to learn.
