A nice starter to get students thinking about how a fossil can be changed. I got students to compare metamorphic rock samples to sedimentary and igneous and asked them to work out what each metamorphic rock is made from.

Although the reason the fossils look different is not accurate, I could use the idea behind it for a starter. The quiz was also useful. Perhaps pictures to go with the quiz will be even better

Nice intro, but the reason that the fossils look different is because the one on the left is a bivalve, and the one on the right is a brachiopod. It's not a case of strain deformation - they're different organisms.
