This RE SMART and PowerPoint is a series of six lessons and all resources based on RE planning for the unit “If God is everywhere, why go to a place of worship?” The unit looks at Christian churches, Jewish synagogues and Hindu mandir.

Each lesson starts with a sticky knowledge retrieval quiz and vocabulary activity.
Activities include a class glossary; mindmap and drawing task for the question What is a place of worship for?; Christian church labelling task; comparison of Baptist and Anglican church; videos looking at Hindu worship at home and in a mandir; double bubble home/mandir worship task; synagogue video tour; differences and similarities comparison of Orthodox and Reform synagogues; speech bubble activity about importance of synagogue; study of 1 Corinthians 12:27 Body of Christ bible quotation; Why do Christians go to church on a Sunday? mindmap; group question task on Christian attitudes to silence, nature and community; religious object sorting task; and final activity of creating a leaflet bringing together all learning about Christian, Hindu and Jewish places of worship with the title Why do people visit a place of worship?

Lessons include videos, group/partner discussion, group tasks, individual tasks and making links to children’s own lives. All resources are included, and there is a printing requirement list for the whole unit. Please note - the SMART and PowerPoint contain the same content, but you need Notebook software to open SMART.
