The three Read and Think books encourage poor readers, especially older pupils, to read sentences and simple texts and understand what they read. Book 1 concentrates on short, simple sentences. Book 2 looks at short narrative and informative texts and includes timetables and a calendar. Book 3 deals with short and medium-length narrative and informative texts. In each of the three books, pupils must understand the sentences or texts they read in order to perform the tasks and this ensures text comprehension. The 25 sheets in each book contain a variety of tasks which appeal to a range of pupils, including older, poor readers. Pupils are encouraged to deduce, infer, and interpret information and events. Vocabulary is limited to high-frequency words and the emphasis is on reading: very little writing is required. Previously available through Easylearn.
