Each summer the islanders on the island of Alderney in the British Channel Islands, march through the town with lit torches, before throwing them onto the bonfire and enjoying a firework display. This summer tradition is a way to celebrate what it means to live in a close knit community on an island, but also the return to the island after being evacuated during World War Two. A small collection of photos from my time in and around coastlines of Britain (Alderney, Channel Islands). Please note that some of these were taken with slide film before the arrival of digital cameras. This collection will be added to over time. For use with ecology, colours, or habitat topics.
