I love this idea! It connects maths to my pirate topic perfectly. I have adapted slightly for my class (year 1) so that HA are finding quarters, AA are finding half but working out total first (i.e. 2 reds and 2 blues...then share) and LA's gems are all the same value and they just find half of that number.
