5 Lessons based on the Zombie Apocalypse (PowerPoints and worksheets for each lesson). I used this with a low ability Year 9 class but could easily be adapted for any KS3 class.
Lesson 1 focuses around writing a diary extract - students have to imagine they have just woken up in hospital and have discovered that a zombie apocalypse has happened.

Lesson 3 - writing a letter to family and friends
Lesson 4 and 5 - media focus looking at film trailers, leading in to planning and recording own trailer.
