Colourful semantics to go with 23 CVC words.
I split these into 4 words per week (one week, has 3 words) and we work on spelling these words and using them in sentences, but this can be easily adapted if you wanted to use more words per week.
I have included colourful semantics boards, from the basic Who, What doing, What, to more complex Who, What doing, What, Where, Why. I have laminated these for my class and differentiate so some of the students complete only the 3 word sentences and some complete the 4 or 5 word sentences, but using the same pictures.
I have included 3 pictures of examples of students using the boards and words (I hav blanked out student names)

Immerse young learners in the wonderful world of language with these worksheets tailored specifically for Early Years and Special Educational Needs (SEN) students. These worksheets are crafted to introduce and reinforce foundational literacy skills through the engaging activities of copying and tracing words.
In the Early Years, where the journey of reading and writing begins, these worksheets serve as gentle guides. They provide a supportive platform for children to explore letter formations, connect sounds to symbols, and gradually develop their handwriting skills. The act of copying and tracing words not only enhances fine motor skills but also fosters an early connection between spoken and written language.
For SEN students, these worksheets offer a unique opportunity for differentiated learning. They accommodate diverse needs and learning styles, providing an accessible path to language development. The structured format of copying and tracing words assists in building confidence, improving hand-eye coordination, and reinforcing essential vocabulary.
I’m constantly striving to improve and provide the best resources for educators like you. Your feedback is invaluable in helping me achieve that goal. If you have a moment to spare, I’d really appreciate it if you could drop me a review.
A PowerPoint all about the difference between the features of Fiction and Non - Fiction Books. It includes lot of fun animations and characters from a range of popular children's stories. This is a multi sensory, plain English version of The Little Mermaid.
The story is based on the Ladybird Favourite tales version. It has been rewritten in simple language. The equipment is detailed so you can make a shopping list!
The multi sensory elements are described throughout the story, but feel free to adapt to suit your needs, or if you have a better idea!
I will be using the resource with secondary age, SEN (SLD / MLD/ complex needs) students for Literacy lessons.
The ‘chapters’ are quite short, so each chapter can be used as a sensory story. I plan to do one chapter a week with my class.
The use of multi sensory input helps students to retain and understand the information within the story. For more information about why sensory stories are beneficial Google Joanna Grace.
I hope you enjoy using this story with your students!
please review, so I can improve, th

Storyboard - designed for children with autism to reinforce their understanding of the story. Children sorted the order of the text as a group before drawing their own accompanying pictures.
With my group of children (mixed aged KS1/KS2) I kept the text on the worksheet but I have included a publisher version so this activity could be adapted to a cut and stick activity, or children could write their own sentences.
This is a pack of Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch resources I have used during a seaside topic with a mixed aged (KS1 / KS2) group of learners with autism.
It includes a planning sheet to think about the lighthouse keeper's cottage, differentiated TEACCH style structured sheets to support writing about the Grinling's cottage, and images of the cottage for pupils to stick in their books before writing about the cottage. There is also a word mat to support spellings and jog memories.
There is a mindmap type sheet to encourage pupils to reflect upon what the Grinlings thought about the naughty seagulls.
There is a symbol supported powerpoint about lighthouses and a lighthouse fact sheet for children to complete.
There are also differentiated grammar sheets for learners to decide whether to use 'and' or 'but' in a sentence.
A total of 50 comprehension worksheets (24 differentiated worksheets for 6 nursery rhymes and 36 differentiated comprehension worksheets for photos).
In the 36 photo worksheets:
12 for lower abilities- find, cut and stick from a choice of 4 answers.
12 for middle abilities- find, copy and extend. The start of sentences are modelled and lines are already in place to practise writing on the line.

The 6 Nursery Rhymes are: The Grand Old Duke of York, Row Row Row your Boat, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Humpty Dumpty, Itsy-bitsy Spider and Hey Diddle Diddle.
There are 6 storyboards for all students to order events from the rhyme, then 6 worksheets for lower abilities- choosing an answer from a choice of 3 and circle/point/say the correct answer.
6 worksheets for middle abilities- choosing a correct answer from a choice of 3, then copying the answer, practicing handwriting on the lines.
6 worksheets for higher abilities to practice their handwriting, writing in full sentences and using capital letters and full stops.
For extension work- ask students to create their own questions, illustrate a rhyme themselves, recite a rhyme or create and illustrate one of their own.
10 different character boards to support children when describing the main characters from a range of Julia Donaldson books. These boards concentrate on describing what the character looks like, sounds like, what it eats, where it lives, what it does and what category we can find the character in.
In the style of thought bubbles/spider diagrams.

How to Become a Successful TES Author: Step-by-Step Guide
I used this with my SEND group who were in year 8, but working at KS1/2 level. We watched a clip from Youtube (Just search: Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire: Hungarian Horntail Task.) Then we worked in pairs to put the pictures in order at first, and then match the correct sentence below and stick this in. One higher ability pair had to change their sentences as an extra challenge.
This became the plan of our Harry Potter diary - we were completing a topic about Dragons - so students had all the events and information, and only needed to transform this into a diary style.
This topic is suitable for KS2 and KS3 pupils and is easily adapted for different ages, abilities and needs. It’s very simple just to take out the sentences either in part or altogether and ask students to create their own from scratch.
