Easter Pack - 2 assemblies and a quiz

(1)
2 assemblies included - 1) The first assembly tells the story of the main events of Holy Week. The angle I have taken is to try and get students to think about some of the feelings and emotions people may have felt when Jesus was in Jerusalem. 2) The second assembly focuses on how Easter has developed over time, its origins and also explores what it means to people in modern times. The quiz is a simple multiple choice double sided sheet that can be completed in class afterwards or as a standalone activity.

In this lesson, students learn about the key features of Anglican churches. Some of the features covered include: the font, the altar, the pulpit, the lecturn, the nave, the crucifix and stained glass windows. Students learn about the key purpose of the features, and where they can be found in the church. Students also begin to comprehend what the features symbolise. This resource pack contains a comprehensive 16-slide Powerpoint, alongside an eye-catching worksheet. Two extension activities are provided in order to challenge higher ability learners. In the past, I have used this lesson with children from across Key Stage 2 - the key learning is aligned with NC expectations for RE, and also the content prescribed by most diocese regions. Ramadan and Eid ul-Fitr Resource Pack

The exact dates of Ramadan change every year because Islam uses a lunar calendar, which means that each month begins with the sighting of a new moon. Because lunar months are shorter than the solar months used elsewhere, Islamic holidays begin on different days each year. In 2024, Ramadan starts in the evening of Sunday 10th March and ends in the evening of Monday 8th April. This resource pack has 60 files. It has an excellent range of resources including writing templates, posters, a matching game, fact cards, key questions and many activities and worksheets. There are also card templates and worksheets to compare different celebrations. There are photographs, borders, labels and titles that will enable you to create an instant, bright and informative display. This resource is designed for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils. This resource pack will be most relevant to teachers, trainee teachers, child minders and home educators. This resource pack will save you hours of your own time so don’t try to reinvent the wheel – we’ve done it for you! Understanding Symbols - KS1 RE Lesson!

(0)
In this engaging and informative lesson, children learn what symbols are, and begin to interpret and reflect on the meaning of symbols. They apply this knowledge in creating their own symbols, considering what the objects/ animals, colours and shapes that they select represent. I used this as an introductory lesson, before then going into more depth about different religious symbols in the subsequent lessons. Children enjoyed it and it gave them a solid understanding of symbols to build on in the next steps of their learning. This resource pack contains a comprehensive and colourful 15-slide Powerpoint, which guides teachers and students through the learning activities. A template worksheet is also provided (in Word and PDF) for the students to create and describe their symbol. In the past, I have used this lesson with children in both Years 1 and 2 - the key learning is aligned with national expectations for RE, and also the content prescribed by most diocese regions. All images are licensed for commercial use, and are cited on the final slide.

Easter Assembly - Good Friday - Making Sacrifices

(0)
This is a plan for an assembly on Good Friday, with a focus on the theme of making sacrifices. There is an optional PowerPoint on the Good Friday story included. The plan is easy to follow and requires no resources, so is perfect for using at the last minute! I like leading assemblies that are interactive, engaging and relevant to the children’s lives. So this assembly involves you telling an anecdote about a recent event, as well as asking for volunteers to perform a school scenario. Children are encouraged to use these stories to think of small sacrifices they can make for others in their own lives. This is then linked to Jesus’s sacrifice on Good Friday. There is a lot of opportunity for children to think about their own experiences and to feedback. There is also an example prayer/reflection to finish with. A version of the Good Friday PowerPoint story is available separately: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/good-friday-presentation-11542698 You might also be interested in my Good Friday KS1 Lesson Plan: tes.com/teaching-resource/ks1-easter-re-lesson-good-friday-11830061 Good Friday KS2 Lesson Plan: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/good-friday-lesson-plan-easter-ks2-11515866

This is a plan for an assembly on Advent, with a focus on preparing for Christmas. There is an optional simple PowerPoint on Advent traditions included. The plan is easy to follow and requires no resources, so is perfect for using at the last minute! I like leading assemblies that are interactive, engaging and relevant to the children’s lives. So this assembly involves using an anecdote about a December when you prepared for Christmas in all the wrong ways. You can use the example in the plan or use an anecdote from your own childhood. The children are then encouraged to think about how they can prepare for Christmas by thinking about others.
