This is a Power-Point with over 100 slides on Shakespeare's The Tempest. There are resources and activities included within this. It is aimed at low ability KS3 and was made for special needs groups (Autism, Dyslexia and ADHD, predominantly) but easily differentiated. Whilst a text can be read alongside, this unit focuses on very short extracts to help students understand character and theme - whilst making it as accessible as possible to those who struggle. It is recommended students watch the play initially to help develop their visual understanding and then re-watch clips to support what they read. The activities are included and worksheets can be printed as individual slides. This can easily be adapted to challenge students further - and some suggestions are made in the notes section.

Colourful semantics to go with 23 CVC words. I split these into 4 words per week (one week, has 3 words) and we work on spelling these words and using them in sentences, but this can be easily adapted if you wanted to use more words per week. I have included colourful semantics boards, from the basic Who, What doing, What, to more complex Who, What doing, What, Where, Why. I have laminated these for my class and differentiate so some of the students complete only the 3 word sentences and some complete the 4 or 5 word sentences, but using the same pictures. I have included 3 pictures of examples of students using the boards and words (I hav blanked out student names)

A game I made for my small class of learners with autism. Suitable for any small group introduction - e.g. intervention group, speech and language, attention and listening. Learners throw a dice and move around the board. When they land on a question, they answer the question. I like to ask another member of the group a question relating to the answer, to encourage learners to pay attention to each other's answers - my children tend to have very little interest in each other! Supports social skills, attention and listening, turn taking. Used for specialist autism group but appropriate for any mainstream KS1 / KS2 group or older SEN group.

The text is a magazine article which discusses the question of whether Halloween is the best celebration or not. It presents different viewpoints on the issue and its own opinion. A few resources from when we read Sharing a Shell. I teach a mixed age primary class, all with autism attending specialist ASD provision. Ability at the time ranged between P4 and approx Reception / Year 1 level. Resources are also suitable for mainstream learners working at this level. Download includes: Sharing a Shell book review - A4 sheet, learners identify who is in the story, where the story is set and what happened 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Sharing a Shell LA - position activity for my lowest ability learner, I used this with the child working 1:1 with a TA, discussing the picture and seeing if the child could identify ‘where’ (TA reading the sentence) Position Sharing a Shell - 2 near identical worksheets for children to write the appropriate word in the gap. I can draw… - these were to encourage mark making / fine motor skills. Frame with a prompt picture of the characters in Sharing a Shell. 3 x A4 sheets. A small version of the visual timetable for your whiteboard or other display with lots of different options for you to choose from. Includes all usual curriculum stuff but also; book talk, SEAL, maths and literacy activities, joke time, news time - all stuff I'm planning on squeezing in. Lunch and break are in different colours to break up the display. I mounted them on another colour and then laminated. They look really effective and don't take up too much room on the board. Hope someone finds them useful as well.

This choice board was used in my SEN classroom to support a child with autism, who struggles to make the right choices. It is a great visual for him and has worked a treat being put up on his work station. This child in particular struggles when making mistakes, so the choice board reminds him of the consequences of his actions and helps him to make the right choice.

This Reading Comprehension worksheet is suitable for upper intermediate to proficient ESL learners. The text explains breaks down the symptoms, diagnosis and research around autisms. After carefully reading the text, students are required to complete some comprehension exercises including: comprehension questions, True or False exercises and a word search exercise. The vocabulary used in the text is rather advanced and can also be used for IGSCE, TOEFL or IELTS vocabulary building purposes. The handout can be completed in class or assigned for homework.

These printable English resource writing activities are brilliant as they provide cross curricular links with History (The Victorians), ICT, PSHCE, etc. They can also be used for SATs revision. I have used them in a number of ways - as a carousel (few activities at a time for the areas already covered in English), as one of activity at the end of a unit, as SATs revision.
