This resource includes an assembly plan and 16 slide PowerPoint for Black History Month in October.
It is suitable to use with KS2 or secondary aged children. The slideshow gives the opportunity to discuss why we might focus on black history for a month. It covers prehistory, ancient civilizations and 18th and 19th century Britain. There are 6 slides which outline key achievements of 6 different people of African or Caribbean descent, who have achieved great things in the past few centuries from Nelson Mandela to Mo Farah. The plan gives details about how to use the slideshow. I like to lead assemblies that are interactive and relevant to the children’s lives, so the plan gives plenty of opportunities for children to discuss ideas, give feedback and reflect.

This 15 minute script was written by an experienced primary school Head of English who is also, outside of school, an award-winning writer. The script was penned for a high ability Year 5 class but is suitable for performance by any year group in KS2 or 3. The script is deliberately humorous, yet is also full of informative and educational learning opportunities about the culture, history and geography of India. The script, as written, has 25 parts but these could easily be split or doubled up depending on the number of children involved.

A class assembly on the story of democracy, as our current topic is Ancient Greece and we've just had Parliament week! Once the children heard that the script might involve time travel they were very keen for characters from Back to the Future to be incorporated, so here we are!
The assembly was very successful and it was very fun to perform. There are 26 speaking parts (some quite long, some a few lines, some quite brief) plus a variable number of readers for a welcome speach and prayer. The final length of the performance was 20 minutes.
This assembly can be used by any teacher teaching the theme of the Tudors and Henry VIII. This play script allows for acting, dance and singing for the children to perform.
Based around the X Factor theme it is different and unique.
An assembly to introduce pupils and students to the origins and traditions of Burns Night. The assembly explains the important stages of a Burns Night celebration in easy to manage to steps, with accompanying pictures, videos and notes for an engaging and simple to prepare assembly.
