Season TEACCH Bundle - Independent Autism and SEND Activities

4 Resources
Save 25% with this Seasonal Bundle. Activities and tasks for your pupils with Autism! Includes early reading, writing and maths activities to help achieve those early targets and build on working independently! These are the individual resources included: Spring TEACCH Tasks £3 Summer TEACCH Tasks £3 Autumn TEACCH Tasks £3 Winter TEACCH Tasks £3 When using TEACCH tasks the task that is to be completed should be placed on the left hand side of the desk/workstation. The pupil then completes this task and places it on the right when completed. Having a clear visual for the pupil to identify where the finished tasks go is preferable. This clear structure allows the pupils to focus on the task they are completing and not be distracted by the work process. It is important to remember that when completing these tasks it is also about creating and building independence as well as success at the task, this is why the consistent work approach (working from left to right is so important) When using these tasks I would recommend using them for at least 4-6 weeks. For some children it may take up to a term for them to master the skill and be able to complete this independently.

Weighing standard and non standard SEN, Early Years and Primary

(0)
Weighing using standard and non standard measurements. 24 activity worksheets. Identifying which object is heaviest and lightest from a choice of 2 after weighing them using cubes, counters (non standard) or grams (standard). Suitable for SEN, Early Years, Primary, Preschoolers. 24 worksheets in total (18 suitable for lower abilities, 12 for middle and 18 suitable for higher abilities). As an extension higher ability pupils should be challenged to make their own worksheet - what objects will they choose and can they estimate which will be heaviest and lightest, then weigh the objects and check if their estimate was correct? 18 worksheets for lower abilities- 6 for identifying which is heavier and lighter (using balancing scales place one of the objects one side and the other object at the opposite side of the scales, then see which side moves down showing the heaviest object). 12 worksheets for lower and middle abilities to use balancing scales to compare 2 everyday items, then use photos to cut out, stick and glue, or if able to write they can write their answer in the correct column (non standard). 6 worksheets for higher abilities to use scales to weigh and record the weight of objects in grams, then to identify which one was heaviest and which was lightest (standard). They can also use the 12 worksheets using counters and cubes to weigh the objects. To make it harder get them to estimate the number first, before checking how close they were.

Space TEACCH tasks – Independent Autism and SEN tasks - World Space Week

(0)
A brilliant Space themed TEACCH pack to add to your file folders. A brilliant addition to your teaching on World Space Week. Great for your pupils with Autism. A selection of early Maths, early Reading and early Writing tasks. The tasks included are: Colour sorting Sorting by size (big and small) (big, medium and small) Letter matching Number sequencing to 5 (2 levels included) Pencil control Matching picture to picture Matching picture to word When creating this resource, you will need to print it and cut out the instructed parts. Laminate, cut and add velcro. You can then add this into a folder or put it into a tray. TEACCH is an effective system for pupils with Autism. The structure allows pupils to work independently and master a skill. When using TEACCH the task to be completed is to be placed on the left hand-side - the pupil then completes the task and then places this into a finished box on the right-hand side. I would recommend using the same tasks for the specific session for around 4 - 6 weeks depending on level of the pupil. It is important to remember that when completing TEACCH it is about building independence and success at the task, you do not want to provide too much challenge. If the pupil can complete the task, this then means they can concentrate on working independently and can complete several tasks without the need for staff support. If the tasks are too tricky, the pupils will not be independent, may get up and wander or refuse to participate. I hope this resource is useful, if you have any questions about how to use it, please just ask!

STEM Lego challenge cards, some Christmas themed. SEN/KS1

(1)
Lego challenge cards, symbol supported for non / early readers. Some are Christmas themed as I’ve just made them to try and keep my children busy during this last week. Children choose or are given a card which gives an instruction - e.g. build a Christmas tree / first letter of your name and use Lego to build as instructed. It’s a fairly open ended activity but my hope is to provide more structure and purpose to play for my children with autism as some have very short attention spans and flit from activity to activity without any meaningful engagement. 24 cards in all, best printed onto card or laminated so they last.

Can I afford it? Up to £1. Basic money sense / life skills peg cards. ASD/SEN

(0)
Cards show British coins up to £1 in value, stating “I have…” Underneath is a statement saying how much an item costs. Learners need to count the coins and decide whether they can afford the item. Many learners with ASD / SEN struggle with money sense and the idea of whether an item is affordable or not. This activity could be extended to ask how much change the student would receive if the item is affordable, or alternatively, how much more money they would need. Designed as an independent workstation task for learners with autism but could also be used in a small group. Learners use clothes pegs to answer the question yes / no to make the task more interactive and to focus those who find sitting and writing to be difficult.
