Lesson 2-3 focuses on the extended answer for Question 9 in the exam by picking out the main features for all the musical elements and trying to explain them to ensure AO4 is achieved in the answer. 2-3 lessons focused on unfamiliar listening of the Baroque and Classical genres and focus on key terminology in the questions (Qu 8 on the exam). All pp is differentiated with success criteria. 4 questions - 1 with a score and extension questions for target grade 8/9 students. 1x question includes a short score and becomes the focus for an essay question comparing to Beethoven. PP includes answers and breaks them down into AO3 and 4 possibly answers to encourage top mark essay writing skills and content.

This can take up to 5 hour long lessons (includes performance, analysis, homework tasks and extended essay). A pp detailing all analysis for the Afro Celt set work. Revision bookmarks including key terms for different styles of music and elements of music. They are different level (A2 bookmarks include much more detailed and more complicated harmonic terms). They should be printed and cut up so students can have a paper clip pack each. They can then be referred to for listening questions and when completing essays.

Lesson 1 - African drumming and links to composition techniques (possible rhythms provided for weaker students). Lesson 2-3 - Use of pentatonic scale and rhythmic ideas as well as individualised success criteria. Also a focus on use of development.

A introductory unit with differentiated powerpoint and resources to support students in composing a pop song chorus or verse using music technology. This is a series of lessons (minimum 3 to complete effectively). Students are taken through a chord sequence, bass line, drum kit part and vocal melody all with differentiated tasks. There is also a composition guide with step by step instructions so students can complete the tasks at their own rate. A lot of push your thinking ideas are included which would allow students to achieve higher grades.
