Job overview
Ashmole Academy is ranked as one of the most successful secondary schools in the country. In September 2013, The Guardian newspaper named Ashmole as one of the nine most successful schools nationally. Ashmole Academy is an ‘outstanding’ school praised by Ofsted for its visionary leadership, excellent standards and exemplary team work.
Here at Ashmole we have a forward looking and innovative approach to all areas of school life and demand high standards of achievement. The school has an excellent reputation within the local community with strong support from Governors, Parents, Pupils and a dedicated and highly motivated team of staff. We currently have approximately 1500 pupils with a growing and vibrant 6th Form of approximately 350. Our examination results are consistently high and the Academy remains heavily oversubscribed every year.
Science is a major strength of the school. Significant number of students study A Level science subjects. At GCSE most students study three separate sciences and others take Double Science. Science results are outstanding.
Required for September 2015, an enthusiastic and experienced Teacher of Science to support the Head of Science in the successful management and teaching across the whole age and ability range and will include responsibility for Double Science and KS3. This is a key post and we are looking for applicants who have a proven track record of success with the ability to motivate, inspire and promote science within the school. Mentoring and support will be provided and would be suitable for someone who is keen to develop and work towards a Head of Faculty role.
