Founded in 2005 and located in the Springs area of Dubai’s Emirates Hills, DBS is a purpose built British International School, with over a thousand students aged 3 to 18. We teach the National Curriculum of England, with GCSE and A Level courses from Year 9 to Year 13. The school achieved CIS accreditation in 2009-2010 and is a member of the Taaleem group of schools.

We are looking for an Arabic and Islamic Education Coordinator for September 2015, to join the school’s Senior Leadership Team. The Arabic and Islamic Education Coordinator will be responsible for monitoring student achievement and curriculum delivery in Arabic and Islamic Education across the school. The Arabic and Islamic Education Coordinator will also support teachers in achieving outstanding teaching for effective learning whilst working with the SLT and department members to assess the impact of school action plans on students’ learning outcomes.

Ideally, candidates should have experience of teaching Arabic -both as a first and second language –and Islamic Education. All teachers are expected to undertake pastoral or curriculum responsibilities as part of their general duties.

Arabic and Islamic Education would of course be the main focus for the successful candidate, but an ability to make a significant contribution to our extra-curricular activities (ECA) programme would be a real advantage, perhaps in the field of outdoor education, environmental activities, service projects, sport, the arts or indeed in any activity or field of endeavour for which you have a commitment and passion that can be communicated to students.

Our Curriculum

The curriculum at DBS is modelled on the National Curriculum for England, significantly enhanced by ‘Wow Learning’, the study of Arabic throughout and a challenging set of GCSE and GCE A Level courses from Year 10 to Year 13.
