ARB Teacher

Merchants’ Academy is an 3-18 Academy sponsored by the Society of Merchant Venturers and the University of Bristol. With rapidly rising exam results and student numbers this is an exciting time to join us.

Applications are invited from high quality candidates to be a teacher within the Autism Resource Base at Merchants’ Academy (ages 4-11). We are seeking an inspirational teacher to provide high quality teaching to children who have an autism spectrum disorder and encourage them to achieve more than they ever thought possible. Candidates for this post should be:

• inspiring and able to motivate and challenge students to make rapid progress.
• able to establish strong relationships and have excellent interpersonal skills.
• bold, optimistic and tenacious in setting and achieving high standards.

You will be expected to:

• plan, implement and evaluate the teaching and learning for a class of students across the curriculum to ensure progress
• manage the LSA support in the class room to ensure that students’ make maximum progress.
• be able to contribute a curriculum subject lead
• have a secure knowledge of ASD and be able to implement appropriate ASD strategies and behaviour programmes.
