Your opportunity

To drive the development and implementation of the art-filled learning experience for our 11-17-year-olds. 


Key responsibilities

  • Create engaging learning environments and experiences inside and outside of the school
  • Involve local artists, seek out community connections 
  • Keep that fire of curiosity burning for connecting, learning and experimenting
  • Ensure the children are gaining awareness and appreciation towards art
  • Encourage self-expression and discovery 
  • Introduce and showcase various styles, approaches, mediums and techniques to children and invite them to express themselves within those parameters to be able to find and develop their own
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to weave art into our project based learning so that art forms the frame of the learning
  • Plan lessons in accordance in accordance with learning objectives and diversify to individual learning styles
  • Record, provide feedback and report on students’ progress
  • Supervise group work
  • Continuously curate children’s work to be displayed and featured in representation of REAL School and making learning visible


Your qualities and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fine Arts with teaching qualifications or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience as an art teacher of pre-teens and teenagers, ideally with innovative learning methodologies
  • Qualified Teacher Status or a Bachelor's degree in Education (international experience is preferred)
  • Experience in authentic project-based learning is preferred
  • Native level or near-native level English 
  • EU work permit*


Key skills and experience

  • Demonstrable excellence in a variety of art techniques
  • Art history teaching experience
  • Ability of planning lessons on art and art history in accordance with students’ learning objectives and tailoring, diversifying to individual needs
  • Demonstrated success in developing students’ drawing, colouring and painting techniques, providing instruction on the use of media including graphite and charcoal, as well as oil, acrylic and watercolour paint
  • Outstanding planning and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of international learning cohorts and their needs a plus 
  • An openness to having your ideas respectfully challenged, and to spending time on the edge of your comfort zone
  • A passion for our purpose and the social impact we aspire to create; alongside alignment with our school culture, including our passion for plant-based food
  • A charismatic self-starter, who is highly resourceful, persistent, adaptable, innovative, creative, collaborative and wanting to continuously improve in a changing and agile environment.
  • Person who is confident alone, but who believes that we are stronger together in a team-based approach to creating.
