Job overview

Fixed-term from September 2024 to July 2025

We are looking for an Artist in Residence to complement our thriving Art Department. This role is ideally suited to an Art graduate who may be considering a future career in education, or as a practising artist.

The successful applicant would be required to work with and mentor young artists, assist with workshops and help out when required. In exchange, you will receive studio space, a flat and full board (term-time only) together with a contribution towards materials as well as the opportunity to display your own work at a minimum of two exhibitions per year.

Additionally, we offer a rewarding environment, as well as a number of notable benefits such as free on-site parking, use of our schools’ gym and pool facilities.

Please note that this is an unpaid position, so we anticipate that you will need to find part time work elsewhere. The anticipation is that this is an opportunity for an established artist to utilise our space and enhance their career, or an emerging artist to have the opportunity to develop themselves.

King Edward’s School is a co-educational boarding and day 11-18 school for some 470 pupils, around 30% of whom are full boarders. We are an HMC school and proud of our unique heritage and place among British co-educational independent schools.

For further details, please refer to the job description on our website www.kesw.org or contact the HR Department at HR@kesw.org or telephone 01428 686739.

To apply, please complete the Application Form via the Quick Apply button.

Applications will be considered on receipt, and early applications for this wonderful opportunity are recommended, as we reserve the right to interview and offer the position prior to the closing date.

Closing date: Noon on Monday 15th April 2024.

We are fully committed to equality, diversity and safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. Please refer to our websites or ask HR for our child protection and rehabilitation of offenders policy. All successful applicants will be required to complete an Enhanced disclosure through DBS. Applicants from underrepresented groups are particularly welcome.
