The opportunity

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational individual to raise the aspirations of our students. This post will give the successful applicant the opportunity to supervise a wide range of students as they complete the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), lead timetabled sessions to raise the aspirations of first- and second-year students to be successful at college and beyond, and work to improve outcomes and close performance gaps throughout the whole college.

Success in this role will be measured through the improved performance and progression of identified groups of students, alongside success in the EPQ and other qualifications. The college prides itself on a diverse student body, drawn from wide ranging geographical and social-economic areas, who are united in their desire to create the best futures possible. Our staff are supportive, reflective, creative, and ambitious, working hard to achieve the best outcomes for students.

We believe all our people, whether students or staff, can offer valuable feedback and support a culture of continuous development, and we are seeking an individual who shares these values.

The person

We would welcome applications from candidates of all levels of experience and expertise. Fundamentally, we are looking for someone with the right attitude, values and mind set to contribute to the college and inspire students to realise their full potential.

We want staff who bring their genuine self to everything they do and want to be involved in every aspect of college life. We are seeking a lead who is passionate about preparing students for the future, closing performance gaps, and raising the aspirations of our college community. We are seeking a person who believes in the ability of all to thrive and is driven to identify the keys that unlock each individual’s potential.

The right person will be collaborative and co-creative by nature. This role will work closely with our College People Lead, as well the college’s Welfare and Well-Being Officer, to identify and impact key groups of students, and more widely with staff across both the college and MAT.

The college

King Edward VI College (KE6) is an exciting high performing Sixth Form College being the founding member of Better Futures Multi-Academy Trust Limited, which includes Bilborough Sixth Form College, Gateway Sixth Form College and sponsored by Coventry University BFMAT – Better Futures Multi-Academy Trust.

This is an exciting time to join us as we develop partnership links across the education sector. We would particularly welcome individuals with ideas about how collaboration between other areas within the college, and our partner colleges in the MAT, could be developed for the benefit of our students and staff.

The college has approximately 1400+ students and 140+ staff and is growing further.

Thank you for taking the time to consider us, should you require any additional information please do not hesitate to contact us.

King Edward VI College Nuneaton is a Sixth Form College that was established in 1974 on the site of King Edward VI Grammar School in Nuneaton. The College now has approximately 1,350 students aged 16-19 years and 130 staff and is growing yearly.

King Edward VI College Nuneaton prides itself on a friendly, personal approach and its ability to maintain a high level of success for all its students.

One of the reasons for the success of the college is that students enjoy studying here, and the proportion of students completing their courses continues to be excellent and amongst the highest in the country.

If student achievement is compared to their achievement at GCSE, calculations using official government measures of what is known as "value added" show our students to be achieving as well or better than would be expected from their starting point.

All our staff are committed to giving students the best possible learning experience in their period in college and we aim to continue in the future the successes achieved by our students.
