Job overview

Join a development programme in an Ark school and prepare for headship

Contract: Fixed term for one year in the first instance

Ark Bentworth Primary Academy opened in September 2012. Our vision is to aim high and achieve together. We have established a learning environment where staff do whatever it takes for their pupils to succeed and pupils are encouraged to develop the same attitude for themselves. We want every pupil, regardless of background or ability, to have real choices: to go on to university or to pursue a career of their choice.

If you share our unwavering belief in the potential of every child, then we want to hear from you.

The Aspiring to Headship programme

Aspiring to Headship aims to develop the school leaders of the future. Through the programme, senior leaders, with a proven track record, are equipped with the skills needed for their first headship position.

The programme starts by assessing your current strengths and areas for development. This information is then used to help design a placement that is bespoke to you. You will receive coaching by outstanding leaders and have the opportunity to experience high-performing schools inside and outside of the Ark network, including exceptional schools in the US. We’ll continue your training through personalised career support, comprehensive feedback on your placement and preparation for headship interviews.

If you are an outstanding practitioner with an established reputation for raising standards in a challenging environment coupled with relentless drive and resilience then we want to hear from you. This provides a real opportunity for an ambitious individual to be a part of a thriving primary hub in west London – where you will be given every opportunity to collaborate and share best practice. You will also benefit from the coaching of an inspirational Executive Headteacher and excellent training with one of the country’s top performing academy networks.

Ultimately, we want to prepare you for a headship position within the Ark network.

About Ark Bentworth Primary Academy

Ark Bentworth Primary Academy is a mixed, non-selective school serving children of all abilities. Our commitment is to know every pupil as an individual, and to foster the principles of team spirit, responsibility and care for others.

Our vision is to aim high and achieve together. We achieve through the highest of expectations encouraging all to attain the highest standards. We learn together as a community through exciting opportunities. Our teachers are inspirational and prepare our children with the skills for life as citizens of the future.

We provide our staff with the tools and support to instil a strong learning culture in their classrooms. In order to deliver the best training and network events, we offer twice as many training days as standard. Our training doesn’t stop once our teachers reach a certain level or learn a certain skill – we support our staff throughout their whole career, from starting out as a trainee to running their own school.

In order to enable effective teaching and learning to take place, good behaviour and safety in all aspects of school life is necessary. At Ark Bentworth Primary Academy we seek to create a caring and learning environment in the school by enforcing our strict behaviour and safeguarding policies.

Curriculum

We are committed to providing significant curriculum for pupils to master basic skills in English and mathematics from an early age. Ark Bentworth has an adapted version of the Early Years Foundation Stage and the National Curriculum, and has comprehensive curriculum maps to ensure that we cover all the statutory requirements during your child’s time with us. All children will also participate in the Ark schools arts programme. Every child at Ark Bentworth will have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument and some pupils may wish to take up individual one-to-one music tuition.

Ofsted

Ark Bentworth Primary Academy was inspected by Ofsted in November 2014 and we are delighted to announce that we were graded good in every category.
