Ark Dickens Primary Academy is a two-form entry primary school in the centre of Portsmouth. Our motto is learning together, achieving forever. We want every pupil, regardless of background or ability, to have real choices: to go on to university or to pursue a career of their choice. So much has been achieved since we joined the Ark network in 2014, but our ambitions to become a beacon of educational excellence mean the next phase of our development will be just as challenging.

If you share our unwavering belief in the potential of every child, then we want to hear from you.

The Aspiring to Headship programme

Aspiring to Headship aims to develop the school leaders of the future. Through the programme, senior leaders, with a proven track record, are equipped with the skills needed for their first headship position.

The programme starts by assessing your current strengths and areas for development. This information is then used to help design a placement that is bespoke to you.

You will receive coaching by outstanding leaders and have the opportunity to experience high-performing schools inside and outside of the Ark network, including exceptional schools in the US. We’ll continue your training through personalised career support, comprehensive feedback on your placement and preparation for headship interviews.

If you are an outstanding practitioner with an established reputation for raising standards in a challenging environment coupled with relentless drive and resilience then get in touch. This provides a real opportunity for an ambitious individual to be a part of a supportive hub of academies in Portsmouth – where you will be given every opportunity to collaborate and share best practice. You will also benefit from the excellent training with one of the country’s top performing academy networks.

Ultimately, we want to prepare you for a headship position within the Ark network.
