We require, for as soon as possible, an enthusiastic, self-motivated, team-orientated Assistant Chef, to join our successful Catering Unit that has a proven track record. The successful applicant should be able to work in, what can, at times, be a demanding environment and work well with the Catering Manager and other staff, to cover all aspects of food preparation and delivery to our customers.

This post is remunerated on LGPS Grade 4 Points 11-13, £15,207-£15,941 pro rata, which equates to £7.88 - £8.26 per hour and is Term Time only plus 5 extra days. There will be occasional evening functions and catering preparation for meetings.

Duties would include:

  • Day to day food preparation and service to a student and staff body of 1200
  • Menu planning and food ordering
  • Stock taking and rotation
  • Some Cleaning Duties

It would be desirable that the successful applicant should have Food Hygiene certification 1+2, NVQ Training in Catering Level 1+2 and be computer literate on Microsoft Word, with some Excel knowledge being preferable. Training would be given to any successful candidate.

Bartholomew School is a mainstream, state-academy, co-educational, non-denominational, secondary school for children aged 11-18. It is situated in Eynsham in Oxfordshire and it has over 1280 pupils on its roll. It has been rated as an “Outstanding” school.

Bartholomew School converted to academy status in 2012 and is partnered with local schools. It feels it has greatly benefited from this change of status.

Bartholomew School is recognised as being in the top 10 per cent of all non-selective schools nationally in providing the most able students. A quarter of its pupils achieve 5+ A*/A grades.

The original school was founded in 1704 by a gentleman called John Bartholomew.
