About Brunswick Park Primary and Nursery School

PROMOTING ALL-ROUND EXCELLENCE

We are committed to promoting all-round excellence through:

Having high expectations.
Promoting independent self-confident learning with realistic step-by- step targets.
Fostering in children a sense of self-worth and responsibility.
Guiding children's emerging social perceptions and skills - developing an understanding of our multicultural society and respect for others' points of view.
Developing positive co-operation and tolerance through team-work and group discussion. These are essential life skills in today's rapidly changing world.
Recognising and nurturing the development of children's individual gifts and talents.
Recognising and implementing children's views on improving the school environment through their representation on the School Council.

The whole learning community is united in providing the best possible opportunity for effective learning. We provide a safe and happy learning environment in which we facilitate children's access to the curriculum, by acknowledging and addressing the wide range of learning styles in our teaching. We are constantly reviewing our practice, researching and training, individually and collectively, in order to improve our understanding of how children learn.

We provide a full education for children aged 3 - 11 years. With only one form in each year, we are small enough for everyone to get to know each other. There is a family feeling amongst the children and adults, and individual needs and talents are well supported. Our Early Years Centre, in its own building across the main playground, is for children in our Nursery and Reception Classes. It has its own excellent indoor and outdoor play areas, providing the freedom and breadth of experience required by every young explorer at the early stages of learning.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION AND COLLECTIVE WORSHIP

Brunswick Park is a multi-faith learning community; our teaching and assemblies reflect this. We follow the Barnet Agreed Syllabus for R.E. Children learn about major world faiths following themes such as places of worship, religious symbols and sacred writings. Parents may, if so desired, request that children are withdrawn from any or all of the religious education and collective worship provided. Parents of those children may come into the school to give individual religious tuition to their child, or the child will spend that time working in another class or with a member of staff.
