Job overview

We are seeking an outstanding Assistant Headteacher to join our very successful 11-18 school to lead on teaching and learning. You will be responsible for further improving the standards of teaching and assessment within the school. At the same time you will be a key voice on the SLT, shaping whole school policies and procedures to facilitate our aim of creating a truly outstanding school. You will take on responsibility for a number of whole school initiatives.

We are looking for two things in the successful candidate.  Firstly, they must be a high quality leader with an in-depth knowledge of teaching, learning & assessment and with a track record of delivering outstanding outcomes. Secondly, they must have the commitment to hard work, the skills and the character to be a highly effective member of a Senior Leadership Team.

In February 2015, Ofsted rated the quality of our teaching and learning as outstanding and would expect the successful candidate not only to maintain the existing standard of teaching but to develop our practices even further. Our outstanding outcomes are a reflection of the teaching talent within the school and we want to make sure it is enhanced further and shared through colleagues’ collaborative work.

Central Foundation is in the top 50 schools in the country based on GCSE outcomes. In 2014, 84% of our Year 11 students achieved 5 A*-C including English and maths. A third of all students gained A or A* in core subjects. We have a rapidly expanding Sixth Form of 200 students, which is part of a Sixth Form Consortium of 3 other schools, which numbers 600 students in total. Our 6th Form is in the top 15% of post 16 providers in the country.

This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding professional who would like to progress in their career and who is passionate about developing their colleagues and school practices in delivering outstanding teaching to our students.

Central Foundation is:

  • an outstanding school (Ofsted, February 2015)
  • a school that is situated in a vibrant multi-cultural environment next to the ‘silicon roundabout’ on the edge of the City of London.
  • not a typical boys’ school, over half the staff are female.

Ethnic minority applications are welcomed to provide further balance to our staff.
This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced criminal record check.

If you are interested in this post and would like to find out more about the role and the school, please give us a call on 0207 253 3741 ext 768. A tour of the school can also be arranged.

Please send your application to Ms Babicz, either by post or by email to babiczc@cfbs.islington.sch.uk.

Deadline for sending applications: Tuesday 5th May, 12pm
Interviews date: Friday 8th May
