Beatrice Tate School is an 'outstanding' secondary special school in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets for students aged 11 to 19 with severe learning difficulties (SLD) and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).

Beatrice Tate School is seeking to appoint an appoint an Assistant Headteacher who is an outstanding teacher with a proven ability to improve learning through effective leadership and management.

Leadership and management experience in a special school is desirable, however knowledge and expertise of leading and managing a provision for special educational needs and disabilities is essential. 

You will be joining an 'outstanding school' (Ofsted May 2021) with an innovative and committed leadership, teaching and support team.

In the post, you would play a major role: 

  • in formulating the aims, objectives of the schools and establishing the policies through which they are to be achieved;
  • by being responsible for the standards and curriculum of all students including the monitoring of progress towards achievement;
  • by proactively leading and managing teachers, teaching assistants, other staff and resources within a department, key stage or age phase.

Beatrice Tate School is a secondary special school in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets for students aged 11 to 19 with severe and profound and multiple learning difficulties. A significant proportion of our learners have additional sensory and physical impairments.

The School works in partnership with a multi-disciplinary team which includes the local primary care trust, who provide nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy services for our learners. In addition, we are supported by the local authority’s peripatetic teachers for the hearing and visually impaired, as well as social care via our link social worker.
