Job overview

Balfour Primary School is one of the largest Primary Schools in the country with four forms per year group and 870 children on roll. The school is now on its fourth year as a Primary School after the Infant and Junior Schools merged in 2011 and it resides on the 28 hectare Surrenden Campus within which there is also a playgroup, two secondary schools, a special school and a sixth form college.

The school is now looking for an Assistant Headteacher, with responsibility for KS1 to join our Senior Leadership Team.

We are looking for an experienced senior leader who would be excited about the prospect of leading the EYFS and KS1 areas of our school.

This is a very unique opportunity for someone who is passionate about children, their rights and their education; and who is always looking to provide the very best educational and life experiences for all our children.

At Balfour Primary School, we always aim to enthuse the children with a love of learning and to ensure that they always feel motivated, challenged and encouraged to reach their full potential and acquire all the dispositions that make them successful lifelong learners. We are always looking at ways to move forward and make things more exciting for us all. We have just introduced a values-led approach to all that we do and we are currently working towards the Level 2 accreditation as a UNCRC Rights Respecting School. We are passionate about delivering the curriculum through a Learning to Learn and thought provoking approach. We are also in the process of establishing ourselves as a research-led school as well as accrediting ourselves as a Thinking School, Philosophy for Children School and Eco School.

Do you have the skills, experience and enthusiasm to enable us to realise this vision? Would you like to work with very committed staff and Governors in a thriving school? Would you like the opportunity to work in a school that works very closely with other schools and the University of Brighton? Would you like to work in a school that is planning a very exciting future? Please see below for details of how to apply for this exciting opportunity:
