Working closely with the Vice Principal, the newly appointed Assistant Principal will take a lead role in developing the strategic and operational direction of the College’s high profile Access and Sixth Form provision to deliver the highest standards of education. With a strong focus on student experience, the role will oversee curriculum development; ensuring clear, relevant pathways are in place to secure positive outcomes for all learners, both locally and nationally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide outstanding educational leadership in the development, planning, delivery and monitoring of the Academic Studies Department.
  • Have responsibility for the department’s management team and resources within the department.
  • Ensure the development and delivery of a creative, innovative and high quality curriculum.
  • Be an active member of the College’s Senior Leadership Team and work closely with other Assistant Principals and the Principalship to deliver the College’s strategy and objectives.

The successful candidate will:

  • Possess a proven track record in a senior curriculum leadership position within a high performing FE institution, taking a lead role across both Academic and Access provision.
  • Demonstrate a profound understanding of the current and impending issues facing education and training environments with a clear focus on quality and standards, combined with a well-developed understanding of the current quality assurance framework.
  • Be an innovative leader with a passion for quality and service excellence, who can demonstrate the capacity to influence, inform and raise the bar so others will follow.
  • Demonstrate a strong track record of success in leading and managing change, with demonstrable improvements in service delivery and operational effectiveness.
  • Have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, being able to engage and influence at all levels across a diverse and complex organisation.

Owing to its size, Manchester College is able to offer a huge range of courses at many different academic levels. This includes GCSEs for school leavers looking to do retakes, all the way up to full BA and BSc degrees. Foundation Degrees are also offered, along with short courses. A large number of part-time learners attend the college, and as such these courses are designed to be a flexible as possible in order to be accessible to adults who intend to work while studying.
