Job overview

Thank you for your interest in the post of Assistant Principal at Abbeyfield School

This is a new position. A unique opportunity to further develop your Senior Leadership and Headship skills swiftly. You will join a Trust and School that is committed to retaining and developing the best and most authentic leaders.

Who are you?

You may be a Senior leader at the moment looking to develop in a different school or setting - sometimes we just want a change.

You could be in a leadership position already, holding some important whole school responsibilities, looking for that next step up.

You could be a successful head of department looking for your first senior post.

We are looking for “the person” who can bring energy - creativity - a totally “glass half full” attitude - someone who is a great communicator and can make others feels valued and instantly comfortable - someone who will work hard but also balance this with having a “life” outside school.

The central CORE of this job is raising standards. You will be heavily involved in driving high aspirations for students at all key stages and ensuring students succeed in examinations. Supporting the VP for Curriculum and Assessment with assessment preparation and analysis you will support teachers in developing the 'next steps' with students. You will work closely with both pastoral and curriculum middle leaders to ensure that students are supported and challenged to achieve the very best outcomes possible. You will be a "hunter" for learning gaps and together with your team, you will work tirelessly to fill these gaps with students.

What also makes this job unique however, and will prepare you for VP positions and headship, will be your direct work with the Principal. You will work with her to support excellent parent communications through transition and our parent strategy.

An interesting position with a breadth of content for the right person.

If you are interested in meeting us for a really informal conversation and visit then please text me initially on 07802742994.

Kind Regards,

Fiona Aris, Principal

We have high expectations and aspirations of ourselves and of our students. Our Quality First Teaching Charter ensures a focus on high quality teaching and learning. Alongside academic achievement we place a very high value on students’ social and personal development, equipping them with the life and employability skills needed for successful adulthood.

The school has a wealth of facilities that underpin the wide curriculum including; state of the art theatre, science lecture theatre, dance studio, drama studio, super learning centre designed for collaborative teaching, fitness suite, sports field, netball courts, basketball courts, gym and a full size sports hall. In the last few years we have been at the forefront of curriculum innovation and now offer our students an extensive and relevant curriculum choice.

Our mission is to develop the full academic, personal and social potential of each individual student. The School has a growing reputation for success, with our school slogan "Ambitious to Achieve" proposed by one of our own Year 12 students and our 6 school values - Respect, Resilience, Honesty, Responsibility, Creativity and Independence formed from a staff and student vote .
