Job overview

Following a successful opening in September 2014, Manchester Creative Studio is seeking to appoint a Assistant Principal, with strong leadership experience and an appreciation of the creative and digital industries, to support the Principal of the school in delivering the schools vision.

Shortlisted candidates will ideally have experience of academic and vocational education and a commitment to project based learning as part of the Studio School vision. They will be a motivated professional with a strong interest in the creative and digital sector, who is eager to support the development of an innovative new school. They will be have a strong pastoral background and a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, safeguarding and equal opportunities.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake appropriate checks in order to be offered the post as well as providing proof of their right to work in the UK. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to respect this commitment. This post is subject to receipt of a satisfactory enhanced DBS check. The post holder will be expected to start no later than 1 January 2016.

About Manchester Creative Studio

 Opened in 2014 for students aged 14-18, Manchester Creative Studio (MCS) is a an employer led facility with focus on students who wish to pursue a career in artistic industries. The school is located in the central Manchester suburb of Ancoats, known as a birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. MCStudio is located in a converted warehouse and is designed to replicate the offices of a leading creative business after undergoing a multi-million pound refurbishment. Facilities include a media suite with access to state of the art video and photographic equipment, and PE facilities at a local gym where sessions are delivered by a professional trainer. To join MCS at Key Stage 3, students will have been predicted at least Level 5 in English & Maths so as to be able to fully access the GCSE course content.

Vocational learning is a burgeoning sector of the education system, offering students valuable to opportunities to learn skills and employment training that can be highly valued in an increasingly competitive workplace. Students at MCS gain valuable work experience opportunities in the local area, though which many find future employment.

A key aspect MCS seeks in new students is an interest in one of the school’s two Media specialisms, Film & TV and Games Design, or Graphic Design. The school does not necessarily anticipate immediate expertise in the subjects, but does expect students with a dedicated work ethic. For Manchester Creative Studio is developing an environment in which to challenge its students, and as such, a positive attitude to studies as well as compulsory enrichment projects is crucial.
