Trinity Academy Cathedral is looking for a talented and ambitious senior leader to lead teaching and learning across the academy, at either Assistant Principal or Vice Principal level.  This is a very exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for teaching and learning, to join our team and be supported and developed on their own leadership journey.  The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal and newly appointed Vice Principal for Quality and Standards, to further drive the quality of teaching and learning across the academy.  Cathedral is at an exciting stage, having been awarded Ofsted outstanding in all areas in 2022, but still with so many plans and aspirations.  As a beacon of excellence, the academy continues to refine and develop its practice, as well as working with the wider group of schools within the trust, to achieve a truly world class education for our young people.  Could you be the next person to join the team on this rewarding and exhilarating journey?

As lead for teaching and learning, the successful candidate would hold the portfolio and strategic oversight for the quality of education at the academy, leading our already successful team of staff to further enhance and develop our provision.  This would include the exciting opportunity to lead our strategy for intent and implementation of the curriculum, ensuring high standards in the classroom, and a world class education for every student, every lesson, every day.  Working with a team of lead practitioners, the role allows for full oversight of our professional development offer: high quality bespoke CPD, informed by educational research, in response to robust, developmental QA processes.  This is a fantastic opportunity for a high-performing individual with the strategic vision to further raise standards across the academy, providing strong leadership in a crucial post.

Trinity MAT is a high performing and successful cross-phase trust.  The trust also collaborates extensively with schools across the country through the Trinity Institute of Education, West Yorkshire Maths Hub and White Rose Education initiatives.  Each of the trust’s secondary schools consistently achieve academic results which places them in the top 10% of schools nationally.  The successful candidate will receive excellent support from the Principal and other MAT colleagues.

This role will appeal to prospective candidates with the full range of senior leadership experience: whether a successful and impactful middle leader taking their first step as a senior leader, an experienced Assistant Principal wanting to grow their portfolio or seek progression to Vice Principal level, or current Deputy Heads seeking further opportunity to develop before taking on their own school in the future.  If the successful candidate is appointed at Assistant Principal level, there will be ample professional development opportunities, to enable progression to Vice Principal in the future.

If you are a successful and impactful middle or senior leader in a secondary setting, with the vision to further improve and enhance the quality of education across the academy, this role offers a unique opportunity to be supported in your own career development, whatever your level of senior leadership experience.  You must be fully committed to optimising the opportunities that are available to children and young people, secure in the knowledge that you will be joining an ambitious, values-driven and forward-thinking academy trust.  The successful candidate must be passionate about improving students’ life chances through the provision of the highest quality of education and committed to achieving excellent results for the students.  You must have a strong work ethic and high expectations of yourself and others and have the ability to lead staff and students in realising those expectations.

For a confidential discussion about the role, or to arrange a visit, please contact Anna Gillinder at principal@cathedral.trinitymat.org

Closing date – 8am Monday 15th April

Interviews – TBC

Trinity Academy Cathedral has been working in partnership with Trinity MAT since 2016, formally joining the Trust in March 2018. The progress made has been outstanding - a real success story. In 2016 the Academy were 14th out of 18 secondary schools (in Wakefield LA) in terms of academic progress and also undersubscribed.  Trinity Academy Cathedral is now the highest performing academy in Wakefield and has been in the top 10% nationally for the last two years. In 2019 we were awarded the TES Secondary School of the Year. In 2022 were were awarded 'Outstanding' following an Ofsted inspection

At Cathedral we teach our students to embrace our vision statement ‘Everything is possible’. We encourage students to be ambitious and inquisitive in their learning, understanding that resilience is a key quality to develop.

We are extremely privileged to have two pathways. The first is our broad and balanced Cathedral main pathway which most students follow. However, we also have our CAPA Juniors programme. This enables young people with a real desire to pursue a career in the Arts to gain a solid grounding in this field whilst still receiving a formal education.

As a result of our achievements and out approach to learning, it is a very exciting time to be considering joining Trinity Academy Cathedral.   We can offer candidates the opportunity to work in partnership with the Principal and the senior leadership team, teachers in the school and other professionals across the trust (including the Trinity Institute of Education School and West Yorkshire Maths Hub).

The working environment is supported by committed, hardworking and supportive colleagues who are focused on improving outcomes for our students. As an academy we have high expectations of staff, we expect staff to challenge our students and themselves. We set high standards and aim to display these in all that we do. Working for Trinity Academy Cathedral is rewarding, we can offer a fantastic environment, excellent CPD programmes and a range of opportunities to progress. These ambitions are shared across all schools within the trust.
