Ryde Academy is an 11 - 18 years secondary academy situated on the picturesque Isle of Wight. There are currently 1000 students on roll but due to increasing popularity, this is set to rise to 1500. The Academy was judged as good by Ofsted in November 2016 under the leadership of its "Inspirational Principal of the Year", Joy Ballard.

Ofsted Inspectors recognised Ryde Academy as a "rapidly improved school" which "students are extremely proud to attend" and "staff feel well supported."

September 2017 marked an exciting time for the academy when it's brand new multi-million pound school building opened. The bright and airy classrooms are equipped with the very latest technology and practical subjects have designated studios, workshops and laboratories, along with a range of excellent sporting facilities.

Our Results

We are so very pleased with our recent results and exceptionally proud of our students and the incredible staff at our school who supported them. This proves that despite some of the negativity directed towards island schools, our students can and will succeed. We are aiming to build on this and we know that we can create a school our students, staff, parents and indeed the island can be proud of.

A Level

50% of students achieved A*/A and 100% of students achieved at least two A Levels or equivalent. 88% of students achieved at least three A Levels or equivalent and 56% received an A* to B in A Levels or equivalent. Our estimated Progress score was 0.1, this means that our students did on average 10% better than other students nationally.

All of our students who applied to university have achieved a place which is a fantastic result and a credit to their efforts and the work of our staff.

GCSE

54% of our students achieved A*- C EM, compared to 38% last year and the new accountability measure (Progress 8) we estimate has improved from -0.38 to -0.24 from last year.
