Associate Vice Principal - As a result of an internal promotion for the current postholder a rare opportunity has arisen in one of our established academies to lead as an Associate Vice Principal. You may have experience as an Assistant Principal or equivalent whole school leadership experience and are now looking to take the next step towards a Vice Principal post in the future. About the role - Who we are looking for

  • A member of the Senior Leadership Team who will work as part of the team, supporting and leading all team members.
  • Assist the Principal to communicate compellingly the school’s vision and drive the strategic leadership, empowering all pupils and staff to excel.
  • Lead in one of our Deeps areas: Deep Learning, Deep Support or Deep Experience which involves leading a team of staff to work on innovative projects across the school. 
  • Support the Principal to lead an exceptionally talented and committed team of staff, having a relentless focus on the quality of teaching and learning, ensuring every lesson delivers the highest standard of education and inspiring learners to develop a passion for knowledge and a love of learning. You will need the skills to motivate and enthuse, coupled with the ability to coach at every level.
  • An outstanding classroom practitioner, who can motivate and inspire both staff and students. You must possess the skills of determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our single goal of ‘students first’. 
  • Lead the Senior Leadership Team to promote an orderly, consistent and caring learning environment for students and staff. To work with staff, parents, and the community to achieve this. Enhancing and ensuring positive life chances for our students through success and achievement.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, support and challenge staff, pupils, and other key partners.
  • Up to date knowledge of what research and inspection findings tell us about effective leadership in schools.

About our Academy

Outwood Academy Shafton is an academy bursting with potential for excellence. The students and staff are passionate about their school and there is a strong sense of belonging within the academy. The Academy is a large 11-16 school with just over 1,400 students on roll. It sits at the heart of its community. The academy is full, annually, with first choice preferences and we have a large number of families who are waiting for a place for their child. The academy is a new-build academy, opening almost a decade ago. As a learning community, it is a vast space covering 4 floors with excellent suites of classrooms, labs and specialist learning facilities. 

We are proud that Outwood Academy Shafton is a welcoming and supportive academy, with a relentless determination to provide the very best education for every child. We place students at the centre of everything we do, with a focus on creating a culture of success and a positive climate for learning.
