Salary: Grade 8, Points 19 -24 of the Meridian Trust Support pay scale. £29,777 – £33,024 full-time equivalent. Actual Salary £25,654 – £28,451

Hours of work: 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (Term Time plus 1 week)

We are now looking to appoint an Attendance Officer within our Pastoral Support Team who shares our core values which are set out clearly in the job description. This post will be a wonderfully rewarding experience for the successful candidate as they will be joining a supportive team which is well resourced and be part of our wider Meridian Trust family.

The successful candidate will monitor, record and manage the attendance of all students.

The Opportunity

· Recording and monitoring student attendance

· Ensure that registers are checked morning and afternoon and student absences followed up by the pastoral team

· Develop and maintain appropriate data to record, analyse and provide written reports on patterns of attendance 

· Assist with Education Welfare or Welfare benefit issues/queries/problems

· Visit families to encourage/develop strategies to increase attendance

· Meet with EWO services (either from LA or other Trust schools) to discuss strategies for students who are at risk of low attendance

The ideal candidate

· Good educational background with 5 GCSEs or equivalent, along with a qualification in IT, data handling and/or Child Protection

· Experience in supporting children in an educational environment, including those with a range of learning needs or challenging behaviour

· Understanding of the education system, inclusive practice, confidentiality and child protection issues

· Skilled at making and sustaining positive relationships with children

· Ability to use language and other communication skills that parents, pupils and staff members can understand and relate to

· Ability to act on own initiative, with a positive and enthusiastic approach to work

· Flexibility of working hours, committed and reliable with excellent timekeeping
