The Camden School Traded Services Business Unit launched on the 1st April 2015 and has been established to support the Camden Schools-Led Partnership (CSLP) and Camden School Traded Services by acting as a main point of contact for schools from the Council, and providing a single route to market for Council services.

We are seeking a Business Development Finance Officer to provide comprehensive financial business support as part of Camden’s Traded School Services Business Unit.

The post holder will develop processes and facilitate all financial transactions of the Traded Services Business Unit working with the manager of the Business Unit, Heads of Service, Customers and partners. The business development officer will focus on developing and supporting quality assurance processes for the services provided to Camden schools and various other clients.

The successful candidate will be required in conjunction with the manager of the Traded Schools Services Business Unit to develop accounting procedures including finance reports and tools that meet the needs of schools, to support a programme of continious improvement of the service whilst ensuring that Service Level Agreements are met. You will be required to demonstrate your proficiency in business development; assisting in the advancement of strategies for the promotion of traded services across the council and take the lead on, as well support, various business development activites and ad-hoc projects – ensuring schools traded services objectives are delivered.

The Business Unit is based at 5 Pancras Square, although the post holder will be expected to be flexible and where necessary, be located with school partners, or to work remotely or from home. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

  • Develop and facilitate processes for day to day financial management of the Traded School Services Business Unit, Camden Schools Led Partnership and various projects, process all incoming and outgoing invoices and requisitions.
  • To process all enquiries from customers and service heads in relation to finance matters and to oversee and support the processing and coordinating of other customer enquiries.
  • To develop, manage, analyse and process quality assurance records in relation to finance matters.
  • Effective working relationships established with customers across Camden schools and internally with the Business Unit and relevant colleagues.
  • Other duties as required in the course of development of Traded Services business processes.

To be successful in this post, you should have:

  • Excellent knowledge of financial management and experience of managing multiple customers’ and service providers’ accounts.
  • Excellent personal and office organisational skills, including prioritisation.
  • Methodical approach to a large workload and ability to provide accurate work that meets tight deadlines.
  • Ability to create comprehensive, practical plans that meet business priorities and have a noticeable outcome.
  • An aptitude for generating innovative ideas and practical solutions that can readily be implemented.
  • Strives for continuous service improvement and personal development.
  • Evidence of strong customer service ethos and a clear understanding of the link to working in a traded service environment.
  • Experience of business development and marketing in a multi stakeholder environment.
  • Experience of analysing data and producing relevant reports.

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
