About the School

Rudston Primary School is seeking to appoint a full-time Caretaker to join our friendly, professional team of staff. We wish to appoint a friendly, self-motivated candidate who is versatile, well organised, enthusiastic, reliable with excellent communication skills who will contribute to the high quality learning environment we provide for our pupils.

About the Role

General plumbing, electrical and/or carpentry skills is desirable for this position but not all three are essential. The successful candidate will be able to show they have the necessary skills and aptitude, and that they can work well under their own initiative.

The Caretaker will work with/report to the School Business Manager and Headteacher. They will be responsible for the maintenance, upkeep and improvement of the school premises including the grounds during the school day and refurbishment/maintenance jobs during the holidays. The role involves all aspects of caretaking and facilities management.

The role would involve some manual labour including lifting furniture and equipment to statutory limits. The applicant would need to be flexible as there will sometimes be the need for support out of hours or additional time which may involve some evenings/weekends for which payment will be made.

Personal Qualities

This job will be for 35 hours per week: the hours will be negotiated and may be ‘split shift’ in order to open and/or secure the school site. Working days will be Monday – Friday, with some flexibility for evening and weekend work when school events are taking place.
