Job overview

Peripatetic Cello Teacher

Leicester Grammar Junior and Senior schools both have an impressive tradition of string playing which forms the backbone of the schools orchestras. As such, cello, violin, and viola are the first instruments for which individual lessons are available with recruitment beginning in Year 2.

We would like to hear from you if,

  • you are a cello specialist,
  • you have a passion for music and are able to inspire young people to share that passion,
  • you value pupils and their well-being and are committed to a holistic education for each child,
  • you are looking for an opportunity to join a warm, welcoming, and supportive school, and
  • you are an enthusiastic and inspiring teacher.

There is a great deal of scope to play a prominent role in the musical life of the school and every prospect of substantial, long-term work here in support of individuals and of orchestras and chamber groups.

Music lessons in the Music Department at the School are available to around 1300 pupils with 410 in the Junior School and 880 in the Senior School. Whilst the demand for individual cello lessons is strong, the Trust does not guarantee a particular number of pupils for each teacher. However, there is every prospect of continued strong uptake and of opportunities to recruit new students.

Visiting Music Teachers (VMTs) at Leicester Grammar School Trust are self-employed and as such bill parents directly for lessons.

Full details of the role, benefits and how to apply are available using this link https://cvminder.com/2404as2y

Applications will close on 8 May 2024.

Interested candidates are advised to apply early as we reserve the right to close this vacancy earlier than the specified deadline, if a suitable candidate is found.

Leicester Grammar School Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and this is reflected in our recruitment procedures.
