Make your mark as a visionary leader as we seek to double the number of our academies

About us
Woodard Academies Trust is part of Woodard Corporation, the largest group of independent Church of England schools in England and Wales and the 18th largest charity in the UK, with a proud history stretching back to 1848. Our approach to education is child-focused, providing holistic learning, including moral and spiritual growth, encouraged through a Chapter or House structure that provides nurture and care. We aim to inspire young people to make a difference. Currently, we have five academies, but there are exciting plans to double in size in the next five years.

The role
We’re looking for a talented and inspirational CEO / Chief Education Officer to deliver transformational change, ensuring immediate improvement in educational attainment and performance across our academies, promoting aspiration, achievement and celebration.

You’ll provide overall leadership to a small team of Executives who hold functional responsibilities for HR, Governance, Finance and Operations. Working closely with this team, you will be accountable for the Trust’s central infrastructure and for promoting the sense of unity and the brand identity as appropriate for a single employer.

In addition, you will also set the context for our future by identifying and delivering the Trust’s growth strategy while at the same time ensuring the achievement of our charitable objectives that support and advance Woodard’s Christian ethos, vision and values.

About you
You will need to be a highly skilled educationalist who knows how to promote an aspirational vision and drive high quality education for children and young people, to give them the best possible life chance. As well as a track record of delivering rapid improvement in educational performance, we will rely on you to bring a strong sense of purpose and direction to everything you do.

Committed, focused, resilient and collaborative in your approach, you have the leadership skills it takes - not only to inspire our Academy Principals and their teams but also at Trust Executive level. You will be responsible to the Board of Trustees and the main contact for the Chairman of the Board, so the gravitas to operate at those levels is essential. Also because Christian values are at the heart of all we do, you will preferably be an active and practising Christian.

A national role that will give you the potential to grow within the wider Group and make a name for yourself within the sector as a whole, we offer a competitive salary and benefits package.
