Job overview

The BAET is currently a three-school multi academy trust which includes a secondary school in its portfolio and will expand shortly to incorporate an additional primary school within the Trust. Future growth over the next 2 years is expected to add an additional 10 schools into the BAET from across the Diocese.

Our vision is to provide outstanding education with inspirational teaching to prepare students for the challenges of the future – within academies where Christian values enable students to learn respect for themselves and others.

Now entering Phase 2 of our development, we are looking to appoint a Chief Operating Officer whose task will be to build an excellent administrative and Bishop Anthony Educational Trust financial team – capable of supporting the drive towards exceptional education for all our students. So this is a brand new role where you will help us drive the strategic growth and development of the BAET.

During your first 18 months, your central focus will be to create a first-class support infrastructure capable of delivering rapid growth. That will include leading the finance team, putting systems into place and ensuring that all statutory accounts and returns are completed and submitted. We will then look to you to develop the operational side of the business, driving best practice through a range of areas including procurement, contract negotiations, estate management, tendering and joint ventures. In addition you will oversee the HR functions of the Trust ensuring that effective personnel management is available for all our staff.

An experienced accounting professional with outstanding leadership skills and a track record of transformational success at senior level, you should bring an enterprising approach to business development, strategy and partnerships. An understanding of the Church of England’s ethos would be an added bonus.

To discuss the post with the chief executive, acting chief financial officer or to arrange an informal visit, please email the BAET CEO via education@hereford.anglican.org. Alternatively contact the BAET through 01584 838 880.

Closing date for applications: Wednesday 20th May (noon)
Interviews: Friday 12th June

The BAET is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. An Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check is required for the post.
