Scottish Autism is a charity based organisation who seeks to promote and provide care, education, support and opportunities for people with autism of all ages throughout Scotland.

We currently have a vacancy for a Classroom Teacher based in our school, New Struan. The schools primary aims are meeting the complexand intensive needs of pupils with autism through providing a range of vital day and residential autism specific services.

We are looking to appoint experienced, committed and motivated practitioners from special or mainstream backgrounds. We require professionals who are able to use their energy, creativity and excellent personal skills in supporting us to work towards our vision;“Independent, confident learners in the community”

We are looking for someone who:

  • is focused on high expectations of children and young people’s attainment
  • can demonstrate excellent classroom practice
  • has a passion for working with pupils with many different learning needs
  • has the ability to challenge, motivate and inspire
  • can demonstrate commitment and potential

The suitable applicant will have an impressive track record with varied teaching experience, together with a relevant qualification and GTCS registration. It is desirable that candidates have some experience of working with individuals with Autism and although not essential will ideally have a qualification such as post graduate diploma/ certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder or be prepared to work towards this. Excellent people management, negotiation, networking and interpersonal skills are essential for this position.
