Job overview

Tywardreath School is seeking to appoint a creative, energetic and enthusiastic Class Teacher who is passionate about giving young people the opportunity to learn in new and innovative ways, developing their skills and delivering real opportunities for their future.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within Adventure Learning Academy Trust, a multi-academy trust that brings together expertise from the education field, under the leadership of Professor David Hopkins, and the professionalism and influences of commercial partners.

Learning through adventure has a proven track record in developing those personal qualities - independence, problem solving ability, discipline, team working and confidence - which are in demand in the modern workplace and underpin successful social development. Learning through adventure provides a reliable means for developing a distinctive school ethos, supportive of personal development, the achieving of high standards and encouraging student and parental choice.

All elements of the school’s design are infused with learning through adventure and the wilderness environment: from the curriculum design and approach to teaching and learning, to the leadership, organisational design, partnerships and wider resources that the school can draw on. Being part of a Multi-Academy Trust offers the freedoms and flexibilities in building design, curriculum and timetable models and staffing to help deliver the ‘Adventure Learning’ school.

This is a full time, temporary maternity contract, to teach a Key Stage 2 class.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status
  • Have recent experience of teaching in a primary school
  • Be committed to raising standards through differentiated teaching and learning
  • Have high expectations for pupils and themselves
  • Be a highly motivated and creative person with energy to enrich the creative curriculum

What the school can offer:

  • Enthusiastic, welcoming and friendly children
  • A school based in the heart of the community with traditional values and high standards
  • An experienced, hard-working and supportive team of staff and governors
  • A happy, stimulating workplace

If you share the trust’s energy, ambition and excitement this is your chance to raise the aspirations of children, families and the local community.
