Job overview

Class Teachers

We have opportunities for successful candidates to lead subject areas, with Teaching and Learning Responsibility Points. These can be discussed at interview with those candidates demonstrating excellent teaching and aspiration for these responsibilities.

We are looking for at least six new, excellent and forward thinking teachers to join our team and contribute to building a professional community of learners.

Are you?....

  • The owner of an adventurous spirit and a great sense of humour?
  • A fantastic, resilient, dynamic classroom practitioner?
  • Passionate about learning and what children CAN do?
  • Able to inspire and excite children, staff and families with creative approaches to learning and teaching?
  • Eager to share your own interests and passions with our children so that they can share in your talents?
  • Ready to blow away the cobwebs and step up to playing your part in our journey to great success?

We can offer you:

  • A bright future! Our aspiration is to become a teaching school and in order to work towards this we are committed to ensuring our own teachers engage in exciting opportunities for bespoke professional development. For us to share great practice with others we want to ensure we have offered our own staff the very best.
  • A committed, genuinely supportive, forward looking team – all keen to work together to see just what we can achieve together.
  • Fabulous pupils to work with – who we believe CAN achieve great things.
  • An exciting place to work – with fabulous buildings and great plans!

The New North Academy was formed from the merger of two schools in 2004. We moved into our new building, which enjoys state of the art facilities, at Easter 2007.

We are a two-form entry primary school. We are close to Upper Street in Islington and have great transport links including: Angel Tube Station (Northern Line), Highbury & Islington Tube and Overground (Victoria Line) and Essex Road (Overground), we are also close to many bus routes. Our community is very diverse and we serve an area of significant deprivation.

Our new headteacher was appointed in February 2015 to lead our school forward, achieve our aspirations and ensure that our pupils receive an enriched, exciting and memorable education. This makes it a really exciting time to be part of our school’s development and allows potential candidates to share with us their own areas of particular strength and interest. There may well be opportunities to utilise your areas of excellence across our school.

The school has been through a period of turbulence and challenge, but in spite of this we have still celebrated our best ever KS2 results! We are now through these turbulent times and ready to look to the future – which is very bright! We are seeking to appoint dynamic teachers to permanent roles, therefore class teacher vacancies are available across all key stages from Nursery to Year 6.

PLEASE state in your application if you would be interested in leading a subject area.

Ofsted judged us to be good, our results are above average and we aim to achieve outstanding status. We strive to ensure we provide the very best education for all our children.

We expect all staff to share the school’s commitment to the protection and safety of children and young people. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

An application form and details of this post are available on our website or by contacting the school by phone or email.

A conversation with the Headteacher prior to application can be easily arranged if you would like to find out more about the roles available or to learn more about our school – please contact Mrs Nimira Lalji to arrange.

Closing Date: 12 noon - Monday 20th April
Interview Dates: Week commencing Monday 27th April (TBC)

Applications: Should be either posted to the school or emailed to Recruitment@newnorthacademy.com (Marking clearly in the subject line the vacancy you are applying for and your surname)
