Job overview

EXETER a learning community. Part of Woodnewton Academy Trust.

Exeter a learning community is a larger than average 2 – 11 (year old) primary academy, with an integrated Children’s Centre located in Corby, Northamptonshire. Ofsted recently recognised us as ‘an improving school’ where behaviour is ‘good’. We are fortunate to have modern, bright, newly re-furbished teaching spaces which include; two libraries, two computer suites, a dedicated music room, speech and language pod, two large halls and a studio. Future plans include a dedicated food technology space and additional ‘state of the art’ technology. Although we are close to the centre of Corby we are situated in large grounds with lots of opportunities for outdoor learning.

Exeter is part of Woodnewton Academy Trust. The aim of the Trust is to build a community of pro-social, emotionally competent, independent learners. To this end, we are proud to have attained Thinking School status and to be home to the Theraplay® Institute. Staff members have access to a specialist inclusion team within the Trust. As a community of learners, we have a supportive ethos. Professional development opportunities are wide and varied.

As an expanding academy we are excited to advertise five permanent full-time class teaching posts. For suitable candidates there may be opportunities for leadership roles with additional remuneration.

The Directors and the Executive Principal seek to appoint suitably qualified enthusiastic staff who will enhance the existing team, contribute to our creative curriculum and ensure that our high standards are maintained. We welcome applications from candidates with a proven history of excellent teaching and class management, whether this is from experience in previous employment or placements as part of your chosen route to QTS. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a commitment to school improvement and pupil achievement.

Visits to the academy are strongly encouraged. To arrange a visit please contact Richard Smyton, Acting Head of Academy on 01536 204765. Please also visit our website www.exeteralc.org to learn more about what we have to offer our children, staff and community.

For an application pack please contact: Pauline Whittall, HR Administrator on 01536 265173, Ext 156 or e-mail paulinewhittall@woodnewton.northants.sch.uk.

Woodnewton Academy Trust is committed to providing a safe environment in which pupils can learn and develop. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, as well as the usual pre-employment checks. The Trust is an equal opportunities employer and does not discriminate on the grounds of Age, Gender, Disability, Race or Religion.

Closing date for applications: Tuesday 5th May 2015 at 12 noon
