About Us

Mansel Park Primary & Nursery School is part of The Learning Federation. We are deeply committed to research based practice and Continuing Professional Development. Our investment in our teachers is second to none, prioritising additional non contact time to support collaboration and enriched learning.

We are a two-form entry Primary and Nursery School, situated in Southampton. Our children, aged between 2 and 11 years, are curious, kind and learning how to be ‘Architects of a Better World’. They sit at the centre of all we do. 

Mansel Park Primary & Nursery School is very much a community school. We strive to ensure that every child thrives, feels happy, valued and safe. Main Areas of Responsibility

  • Promote the development of the abilities and aptitudes of the pupils in any class or group assigned
  • Plan and prepare inspiring lessons, designed to meet the needs of the individual child
  • Inspire a thirst for learning
  • Interleave and interweave learning so that your assessment informs the next steps for earning and your children progress strongly and succeed accordingly
  • Disseminate high quality teaching pedagogy and practice to secure consistently good or outstanding teaching and learning for our children
  • Be committed to on-going professional development
  • Contribute to the wider life and personal development of the children
  • Maintain a dynamic and inspiring learning environment
  • Be innovative, highly motivated and resilient in order to implement the discretionary effort required to provide the best education for all of our children
  • Have good interpersonal skills, work well as part of a team.


Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • QTS (or equivalent) and an undergraduate degree
  • A curious mind
  • Good understanding of current theory and best practice in teaching and learning, particularly as it relates to achieving high rates of progress of children of primary age
  • Good subject knowledge of core National Curriculum
  • Good understanding of child development and progression and how this impacts on planning
  • Understanding of effective strategies for managing behaviour within the classroom and in accordance with the school's policy
  • An understanding of equal opportunity issues and how they can be addressed in schools
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
