RAMSBURY PRIMARY SCHOOL GENERAL INFORMATION

Ramsbury Primary School is situated in Ramsbury, a village of medium size situated in beautiful countryside on the edge of the rolling Marlborough Downs between the market towns of Marlborough and Hungerford. There has been a settlement in Ramsbury for centuries, and though there has been some new housing development, the village retains a very distinctive character, with many lovely old buildings and a strong community spirit.

The original school was opened on January 4th 1875 and open only to boys, but later amalgamated with the girls’school, which was situated on the opposite side of Back Lane.

The old building has been replaced with a purpose built school with bright new classrooms and a well equipped hall, library and resources room. We have excellent provision for information technology. Each classroom has an interactive whiteboard and a computer, which is linked to the server in our computer suite. The computer suite itself is large enough to house an entire class of children and contains sixteen served linked computers.

Music is very important in the life of our school. We have an excellent choir and orchestra and all pupils have the opportunity to learn a tuned instrument.

Outside is a good sized playground suitable for games and a level field adjacent to the school building ideally suited to athletics and sport. The field boasts a fine ‘activity trail ‘of climbing equipment which has proved very popular with the children and a sensory garden that the children created out of a disused sandpit. The school also makes use of the first rate recreational facilities on the outskirts of Ramsbury.

A school to be proud of!
